এবারের পুজোর মূল ভাবনা ছিল ‘চিরউত্তম’। মহানায়ক উত্তম কুমারের জন্মশতবার্ষিকীকে স্মরণে রেখে তাঁর অভিনীত বিভিন্ন চলচ্চিত্রের স্মৃতি ও জনপ্রিয়তাকে মণ্ডপের ভাবনায় ফুটিয়ে তোলার চেষ্টা করেন পুজো উদ্যোক্তারা। বাংলা চলচ্চিত্রের ইতিহাসে উত্তম কুমারের অবদান আজও অমলিন। তাঁর অভিনয়, ব্যক্তিত্ব ও কালজয়ী সৃষ্টির প্রতি মানুষের ভালোবাসা প্রজন্মের পর প্রজন্ম ধরে অটুট রয়েছে। সেই ভালোবাসা ও স্মৃতিকে নতুন প্রজন্মের সামনে তুলে ধরাই ছিল উদ্যোক্তাদের অন্যতম প্রধান উদ্দেশ্য।
ওয়ার্ল্ড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল প্রেসক্লাব ও দৈনিক দুরন্ত বাংলা বেশ কয়েক দিন ধরে কলকাতার বিভিন্ন পুজোমণ্ডপ পরিদর্শন ও সংবাদ কভারেজের মাধ্যমে উল্লেখযোগ্য পুজো কমিটিগুলিকে সম্মানিত করে আসছে। সেই উদ্যোগের অংশ হিসেবেই স্বাধীনতা দিবস উৎসব উদযাপন সমিতিকে তাদের সৃজনশীল ভাবনা ও প্রতিমার জন্য এই সম্মাননা প্রদান করা হয়।
অনুষ্ঠানে বাংলাদেশ থেকে ভার্চুয়ালি যুক্ত ছিলেন ওয়ার্ল্ড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল প্রেসক্লাবের সভাপতি আওরঙ্গজেব কামাল। তিনি বলেন, “ধর্ম, বর্ণ ও জাতিগত পরিচয়ের ঊর্ধ্বে উঠে স্বাধীন সাংবাদিকতার মাধ্যমে আমরা বিশ্বব্যাপী মানুষের ন্যায্য অধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠা, মানবিক মূল্যবোধের বিকাশ এবং সত্য ও ন্যায়ের পক্ষে কাজ করে যাচ্ছি। শিল্প, সংস্কৃতি ও সৃজনশীলতার যে কোনো ইতিবাচক উদ্যোগকে আমরা সবসময় উৎসাহিত করি। মহানায়ক উত্তম কুমারের স্মৃতিকে ধারণ করে স্বাধীনতা দিবস উৎসব উদযাপন সমিতির এই অসাধারণ আয়োজন বাংলা সংস্কৃতির প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধার বহিঃপ্রকাশ। তাঁদের এই সৃজনশীল প্রয়াসকে সম্মানিত করতে পেরে আমরা গর্বিত।”
সম্মাননা গ্রহণের পর স্বাধীনতা দিবস উৎসব উদযাপন সমিতির সদস্য ও কর্মকর্তারা তাঁদের প্রতিক্রিয়ায় জানান, এই স্বীকৃতি পেয়ে তাঁরা অত্যন্ত গর্বিত ও আনন্দিত। তাঁদের কথায়, মহানায়ক উত্তম কুমারকে যেন বাঙালি কখনও ভুলে না যায় এবং তাঁর অভিনয় ও অবদান যেন মানুষের হৃদয়ে চিরকাল অম্লান থাকে, সেই লক্ষ্যেই এবারের ভাবনাকে সাজানো হয়েছে। এ বিষয়ে ওয়াল্ড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল প্রেসক্লাবের কেন্দ্রীয় সাংগঠনিক সম্পাদক সমরেশ রায় বলেন, ওয়ার্ল্ড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল প্রেসক্লাব একটি সাংবাদিক সংগঠন নয়। এটা সাধারণ মানুষের অধিকার আদায়ের একটি সংগঠন এবং মানুষের জীবনমান উন্নয়নের লক্ষ্যে কাজ করা একটি সংগঠন। সংগঠনের সভাপতি আওরঙ্গজেব কামালের নেতৃত্বে আমরা বিশ্বব্যাপী সাধারণ মানুষের পাশে থেকে কাজ করছি। আপনাদের সকলের সহযোগিতা চাই।
উদ্যোক্তারা আরও বলেন, উত্তম কুমার তাঁদের কাছে শুধু একজন অভিনেতা নন, তিনি বাংলা চলচ্চিত্রের এক চিরস্মরণীয় অধ্যায়। তাঁর অভিনীত বিভিন্ন চলচ্চিত্রের অনুপ্রেরণাকে ভাবনার মধ্য দিয়ে তুলে ধরার চেষ্টা করেছেন তাঁরা। তাঁদের প্রত্যাশা, উত্তম কুমার চিরকাল ‘চিরউত্তম’ হয়েই বাঙালির হৃদয়ে বেঁচে থাকবেন।

Kolkata’s Swadhinata Dibas Utsav Udjapan Samiti Receives the ‘Jagatshree Samman’ from the World International Press Club

The Swadhinata Dibas Utsav Udjapan Samiti, located at the junction of Kankurgachi and CIT More in Kolkata, received the prestigious ‘Jagatshree Samman’ for its outstanding concept and idol presentation. The award was presented at a felicitation ceremony jointly organised by the World International Press Club (WIPC) and Dainik Duranta Bangla, in recognition of the committee’s creative approach inspired by the legendary Bengali actor Uttam Kumar and the glorious heritage of Bengali cinema.
This year, the central theme of the committee’s Durga Puja was ‘Chirottam’ (The Everlasting Uttam). In tribute to the birth centenary of the legendary actor Uttam Kumar, the organisers sought to bring the memories and enduring popularity of his iconic films to life through the artistic concept of their puja pandal. Uttam Kumar’s contribution to the history of Bengali cinema remains unforgettable. His acting, personality and timeless performances continue to captivate generations of admirers. One of the organisers’ principal objectives was to present this enduring legacy and public affection to the younger generation.
For several days, the World International Press Club and Dainik Duranta Bangla have been visiting various Durga Puja pandals across Kolkata and covering their activities through news reports, while recognising outstanding puja committees. As part of this initiative, the Swadhinata Dibas Utsav Udjapan Samiti was honoured for its creativity, innovative concept and artistic idol presentation.
WIPC President Awrangzeb Kamal Joins Virtually from Bangladesh
Awrangzeb Kamal, President of the World International Press Club, joined the programme virtually from Bangladesh. Addressing the occasion, he said:

We always encourage positive initiatives in art, culture and creativity. Following the presentation of the award, members and office-bearers of the Swadhinata Dibas Utsav Udjapan Samiti expressed their pride and happiness at receiving the recognition. They explained that their theme was designed to ensure that the legendary Uttam Kumar is never forgotten by Bengalis and that his acting and contributions remain alive in people’s hearts forever.
Commenting on the occasion, Samaresh Roy, Central Organising Secretary of the World International Press Club, said:
